Google’s new model isn’t for me on my first test, mixed reviews

Oct 15, 2026

Hi folks,

Trying something different today, because why not?!

(i’ll fix the aspect ratio next time - stupid ultra wide monitor cropping)

PS. My talk from Stanford is now live on YouTube. I’d been up since 2am so nice comments only please. The course will be available to preview in early access next week…

Personal shopping is coming to every agent. Developers get one API at shop.dev for over a billion products and one-tap checkout. Shoppers can add the skill at shop.md so any agent knows their size and order history from Shop and can check out in the chat. Nothing gets bought without their approval.

Headlines

Google’s new model, Gemini 4 Argon, is now available for everyone to use. Dan likes it as his new writing partner, but I don’t think it’s that great - I mostly tested its design capabilities, it was slow and looked bad. Theo called it unusable.

I tried it in Droid to edit a short video: great analysing reels and planning cuts, but bad at UI and the final edit had weird hallucinations.

Try this

[From Keshav] I keep two files every agent can read: chat-index.md (past chats, updated daily by an automation) and folder-map.md (where each project lives). Instead of resuming a session, I start a new one and say:

Read the chat where I was working on [project]. We’ll continue that today.

Works with any agent that can read your files.
