The newsletter for ai builders of all levels. Mini-tutorials, tool reviews, and lay of the land from an exited founder turned investor and forever tinkerer.
Hey folks,
Claude Sonnet 4 now has a context window of 1M tokens (up from 200k earlier). In beta for Tier 4 API customers (=spent $400 or more on API). Pricing is higher for prompts with more than 200k tokens.
$3/$15 per 1M tokens input/output for prompts ≤200k tokens
$6/$22.5 per 1M token input/output for prompts >200k tokens
Gemini has had long context for a while, and GPT-4.1 joined it earlier this year. Sonnet 4 is Claude’s entry in the race.
Gemini is getting two new features: personal context (i.e. memory) and temporary chats. Personal Context has two parts: referencing past chats and saved bits of memory. You can turn off each part individually. Keshav uses Gemini a lot, his pov:
Gemini already has both of these, so this is likely just a rebrand of these features. But Gemini does it slightly different than ChatGPT. Instead of automatically saving info, Gemini saves it when you ask it to. Similarly, it searches for past chats when you ask it, instead of mysterious references like ChatGPT (which sometimes work, sometimes don’t). I still have the “saved bits” off in Gemini but I often ask it “remember we talked about this”.
— Keshav
Temporary chats are just one-off chats that don’t get saved in your chat history, like an incognito tab.
The model picker is back in ChatGPT. Don’t care about it. Just use “Thinking” until you hit limits (3000 messages/week in the Plus plan).

From the portfolio:
Anything recently rebranded and I’ll be doing a video deep dive next week on all the wonderful things you can build with it (including auth, payments, database, storage etc, all included). Today they launched on Product Hunt - show them some love ❤️.
Factory AI built a new interface to manage Droids (their coding agents) specifically for;
Specification – Distraction-free, chat-only scoping
Management – Full context view without breaking review flow
Review – Instant unified diffs, no folder hunting
The more I’m working with agents, the more the interface thinking really matters - terminal view is too rigid, IDEs have too much going on.
